The Last Song I'll Sing
Written by Scott Wainwright
The water was white with fury
The sky was red with fire
When I left the house of mourning
All joy removed, devoured
My face was awful downcast
My hands were clenched with fear
When I left the safety of my home
All strength removed, devoured
But this will be the last song I sing
About the pain I'm feeling
The earth quakes with birth pains
The grapes they are trod in wrath
When I left the arms of my wife
All hope removed, devoured
My clothes became a shroud
Every breath like shattered glass
With the tears of my children
All peace removed, devoured
But this will be the last song I sing
About the pain I'm feeling
Loves binds are draped upon me
The lambs feet now fleet before
When I rise from this turbulent slumber
All life abounding, rejoice
My head is lifted high
Barefoot I forward wander
To meet the king of Salem
All hope restored, rejoice
But this will be the last song I sing
About the pain I'm feeling
